A collection of beans and the patterns they wear. Most are Phaseolus. Favas are Vicia; cowpeas are Vigna.

Names run from family to variety: Fabaceae → Phaseolus → Phaseolus vulgaris → Tiger’s Eye.

The scar on a bean’s inner curve is the hilum, where it joined the pod. Coffee and cacao “beans” aren’t legumes. Made by Joe Laufer.
